Community guidelines
EAOT is a professional community of practising architects. These guidelines keep it useful, credible and safe to contribute to.
Contribute from practice
- · Ground posts in something you have designed, run or reviewed.
- · Share failure modes and constraints, not only the clean reference diagram.
- · Cite the source when you reuse someone else's model or framework.
Stay vendor-neutral
- · Name tools when they matter to the architecture; do not sell them.
- · Disclose your affiliation when you discuss a product you work on or sell.
- · Promotional posts without architectural substance are removed.
Protect confidential information
- · Never post client names, credentials, keys, endpoints or internal documents.
- · Anonymise diagrams and data before sharing — sector and scale are enough context.
- · You remain responsible for your employer's and clients' confidentiality obligations.
Debate the architecture, not the architect
- · Disagree with the decision, the trade-off or the evidence.
- · No harassment, discrimination or personal attacks.
- · Assume the other architect knows constraints you cannot see.
Moderation and reporting
- · Any signed-in member can report a post using the Report action on the post.
- · Reports are reviewed by EAOT moderators; outcomes may include edit requests or removal.
- · Repeated breaches lead to loss of posting access.
